Lenten Easter Mission Offering (LEMO)

Client: Trinity UMC Location: Richmond, VA Year Created: 2016 Created Using: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Facebook, TrinityUMC.net The Lenten Easter Mission Offering (LEMO) is a yearly campaign at Trinity that helps fund mission projects and new service endeavors. I was tasked with creating a logo, brochure, and video to help promote the 2016 LEMO as well as highlight the success of the 2015 campaign. I created several versions of the logo for the team to review. Ultimately the graphic chosen was the tree made of hands to represent the many levels and varieties of service that the LEMO funds and the growth that comes to those who participate. I created a brochure to be inserted in the weekly service bulletin. The committee had 3 goals for this brochure: 1) to highlight the success of the 2015 campaign, 2) to explain the campaign—describing the LEMO effort and offering information about applying for a LEMO grant, and 3) providing an actionable item—a tear-off to turn in with this year’s pledge. See the LEMO Borchure Finally, I filmed and edited a video to be shown in worship about the 2016 LEMO campaign. Lenten Easter Mission Offering: Why We Give from Trinity […]

Easter Campaign: Sit With Me!

Client: Salem UMC Location: Mathews, VA Year Created: 2015 Created Using: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Facebook, SalemUMCMathews.org The seasons of Lent and Easter are big ones for churches. When thinking about Easter Sunday and Holy Week, the pastor of Salem UMC and I created an Easter Campaign to help the people of Salem Church invite a friend to join in the Holy Week festivities. We created separate branches of this campaign for those who attend Salem church on a regular basis and for those who would potentially be visiting during Lent, Holy Week, and ultimately on Easter Sunday. The campaign was based on something Salem Church’s oldest living member said the previous fall when asked the question: “What would you say if you could say one thing to somebody trying to decide what to do with a Sunday morning?” For those who attended Salem Church regularly, I designed and had printed business cards with the words “Come to Easter Sunday Worship at Salem United Methodist Church and Sit with Me.” These cards were inserted into church bulletins for several weeks leading up to Easter Sunday, and worshipers were encouraged via verbal announcement to take the card and share […]

Elements of a Love Story

Client: Fieldstone UMC Location: Christiansburg, VA Year Created: 2015 Created Using: Adobe Illustrator The Pastor of Fieldstone UMC was looking for a sermon series graphic and other pieces to go along with his Lenten Series. Using a general concept sketch from him, I built the sermon series graphic focusing on the word ‘element’ based upon the Periodic Table. I created a simple logo to go along with the series that was part of the series graphic. I created an element symbol from each of the series’ weekly themes, and those were provided to the church along with the full series graphic to use for promotion of the series in print and online. I also created a PowerPoint template using the full series graphic and the corresponding week’s element symbol for use during worship. Family Map Day

Client: St. Stephen’s UMC Location: Burke, VA Year Created: 2013-14 Created Using: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop Family Map Day was an event for parents of children from the St. Stephen’s UMC community. The marketing plan and designs for Family Map Day were created in conjunction with staff and planning committee. For this project I contracted with St. Stephen’s to help bring their vision for the Family Map to life. Working with the pastoral staff and the Map Day committee, I began by designing the Family Map itself. I created a path from birth to graduation (with a nod to the Ss in Saint Stephen’s) and then designed a different logo icon for each age group. These icons went through several rounds of discussion and changes before we settled on the final color and image to represent each stage along the Family Map. Age-Specific Icon Logos: baby ◄ Back Next ► Picture 1 of 7 New Baby: (Birth – Age 2) Once the Family Map itself was designed and the other items (classes, events, etc.) were added along with the life stage icons, I moved on to creating the other marketing materials related to the Family Map Day event itself. Telling Our Story

Client: St. Stephen’s UMC Location: Burke, VA Year Created: 2013-14 Created Using: Adobe Premiere, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop After I finished the website redesign at St. Stephen’s, I met with the pastoral staff to discuss what would come next and how we would take the website to the next level. We were interested in not just being a site for those who had never set foot inside the walls, but also a site for those who regularly attended as well. The Telling Our Story campaign was built from those conversations. Every few months we chose a ministry area to highlight and began the process of telling the story of St. Stephen’s in video. I went to the ministry event and took photos and video and then put those together into a short video for the website and social media platforms.
